The Lane Field North Hotel Project consists of a dual-branded hotel that was developed on Lane Field, the former historic home of the Pacific Coast League San Diego Padres. The development included a 253-room Springhill Suites by Marriott and a 147-room Residence Inn by Marriott. The development also has a rooftop restaurant and bar, a terrace-level swimming pool, and a second-floor bay view deck. There is also 27,000 SF of retail space and parking for more than 400 vehicles. The total project value was on the order of $130 million.

Prior to construction, CTE provided geotechnical engineering and all inspection and testing services during the installation of all on- and off-site improvements. Services included the laboratory testing of pipe bedding and backfill materials and the inspection and testing of bedding, pipe zone, and trench backfill materials for all below-grade utilities located on-site, within the Public Right of Way, and within the adjacent associated park. CTE also provided observation, documentation, and load testing verification of more than 600 auger cast pressure grouted pile foundations. CTE performed all soils compaction testing and observations for the hotel site and the adjacent public park and plaza, as well as all the associated laboratory testing of soils, concrete, mortar, grout, masonry prisms, compression tests, structural steel, bolts, welding, fireproofing, and concrete mix designs.

CTE also performed geotechnical design and fault hazard evaluations for the Lane Field South Hotel, which was constructed in 2016 and 2017. Services during construction on Lane Field South included all below-grade geotechnical engineering and observations, and observation and testing format foundations, and fault mapping.
