Occupational Health & Safety

CTE's Occupational Health and Safety consulting services are developed to minimize exposure to workplace or job site chemical, biological, and physical hazards. With the support of UES' nationwide personnel and resources, CTE develops cost-effective solutions and strategies for reducing and eliminating health and safety hazards at the worksite. Our health and safety experts have developed consulting services and training programs with the latest, most comprehensive, and accurate information available based on relevant OSHA standards. Our technical team works with clients to develop programs that promote health and safety awareness, decrease accident and injury rates, increase productivity, and train and educate employees. Our consulting staff includes Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs), Certified Safety Professionals (CSPs), Licensed Mold Assessors, Licensed Radon Measurement Specialists, Council-Certified Indoor Environmental Consultants, and Certified Healthcare Safety professionals.

Indoor Air Quality Assessments

CTE's Indoor Air Quality Services unit performs scientific analyses of indoor air quality to detect conditions that could be harmful to occupants. The damaging effects of “sick building syndrome” that can occur in sealed offices with poor moisture control have been repeatedly and alarmingly documented. Rectifying sources of airborne contamination to avert the spread of respiratory problems can help clients minimize potential liability. We perform comprehensive air quality analysis for a wide range of structures, including commercial and industrial facilities, educational institutions, medical clinics and hospitals, administrative offices, and residential projects.

Our Indoor Air Quality Assessment services include:

  • Indoor Air Quality Testing
  • Odor Investigations
  • Conformance with ASRAE Standards
  • Allergen Scans
  • Total Organic Compound Scans
  • Air Quality Testing for LEED and Building Commission
  • Legionella Sampling
  • Sewage Contamination Investigation
  • HVAC Diagnostics and Air Distribution Measurements
  • Vapor Intrusion Investigations

Mold Testing and Water Intrusion Services

Water intrusion is one of the main contributing factors to building damage, structural damage, rot, and microbial growth that may lead to “building related illness." The CTE staff - with the support of UES' nationwide personnel and resources - is experienced in recognizing and understanding the issues involved in moisture intrusion and mold contamination, and can develop sound, cost-effective solutions to mitigate moisture intrusion issues.

Our Mold Testing and Water Intrusion services include:

  • Contaminant Assessments
  • Air Testing for Bioaerosol Burden to Genus Level
  • Culturable Fungal Testing for Species Identification
  • Surface Contamination Testing
  • Wall Cavity Inspections
  • Moisture Mapping

Radon Testing Services

Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes and buildings across the United States. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other pathways in the building foundation. CTE and UES' licensed radon measurement specialists can provide radon screening testing, which meets the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) approved testing protocols for assessing radon gas.

Our Radon Testing services include:

  • Short-term Radon Screening by Activated Charcoal Adsorption
  • Long-term Radon Screening by Alpha Track Detectors
  • Radon Testing for Drinking Water
  • Radon Mitigation Assistance
  • Post Mitigation Testing
